1975-78 AS degree in wildlife management
Summer course requirement:
5-day class trip canoeing down the Alapaha River
5-day group camping in northern Georgia
1977 Canoe trips with 2 others down the Alapaha River and the Swannee River
1979 Two camping trips in northern Georgia by myself
1984 4 weeks every summer, hike about 200 miles of the Appalachian Trail by self
Have hiked the Susquehannock, Black Forest, Quehanna and Old Loggers Path
I hike the B.F.T. 2 or 3 times a year
1998 Winter camping course in New Hampshire at the White Mountain School given by the PA chapter of the Appalachian
Mountain Club. Learned how to snowshoe, use an ice axe and crampons, how to layer to stay warm, how to build snow
shelters and how to put up a tent in the snow.
1999 Compass course in the Delaware Water Gap area given by the AMC
2000 CPR & First Aid once in 1985, 1986, 1989, 1990
2001 Wilderness First Aid given by the AMC
2002 Leadership Workshops given by the AMC
